Senior Retail Industry Consultant



We are looking for a Senior Retail Industry Consultant with 10+ years’ experience to help our clients select and implement solutions. You will have good knowledge of the products and platforms used across retail, ideally both instore and online. You will enjoy a challenge and have experience bringing people together to solve complex problems.

• Propose technology solutions to suit our retail client’s business and technical needs.
• Ensure that the benefits of proposed solutions align with stakeholder’s motivations and concerns.
• Create delivery roadmaps, working with development teams to estimate effort required and construct a coherent delivery plan.
• Advise clients on product selection and buy-versus-build decisions.
• Assist clients in prioritizing initiatives looking at potential value, investments, complexity, and effort required.
• Work alongside client & delivery teams to deliver the roadmap, validating assumptions and removing uncertainty. Help ensure successful project execution.
• Work with clients to define a vision of their target state, as well as interim tactical solutions.
• Drive innovative, blue-sky thinking in retail. Help our clients create the future of retail.
• Engage with the Endava Private Equity Group where you will lead due diligence and value creation engagements for PE funds, providing advisory throughout the transaction cycle
• Build relationships within the wider Endava business to help support and develop new and existing clients.
• Mentor and/or manage other members of your team
• Contribute to, and curate detailed analysis reports covering areas such as: market dynamics, competitor analysis/benchmarks, reference architectures, value chains, go-to-market strategies, in support of client propositions and M&A activity.


Qualifications and Experience

• You will have at least 10 years of experience working in retail technology, in-house or in a consultancy, delivering technology change either as an enterprise or solution architect, or as a technology manager.
• You will have practical experience working in several of the following: online retail, omnichannel, supply chain, logistics, stock management, ERP, in store, loyalty, payments, returns, advertising, and marketing for retailers.
• You will have a good knowledge of industry platforms and solutions, ranging from market leaders to new challenger products. Understanding/familiarity with vendors of tier 1 and tier 2 composable commerce product/services.
• You will have a good understanding of typical technology project methodologies and delivery processes, including Agile and Devops practices.
• Ideally, you will have experience of working with CPG/Retail product teams (CPO/CPTO), familiarity with budgeting (CAPEX/OPEX) of IT function in retail/CPG businesses,
• Ideally, you will have experience working in both B2C and B2B environments.
• Ideally, you will have experience of retail in multiple countries including Germany and the Nordics.
• You will be comfortable engaging with very senior, non-technical stakeholders, translating technology findings and opportunities into a business context.
• You will be comfortable with ambiguity and able to work in a context where not all information is available.
• You will have experience formulating hypotheses based on your knowledge of your customers, continually validating assumptions with data throughout the design and development process.
• You will have strong analytical skills with the ability to translate research and data into meaningful and actionable insight.
• You will have an appreciation of user experience methodologies and practices, including user-centered design and Design Thinking.
• You will be a self-starter who can take a client brief and turn it into a proposal with the minimum of support.
• You will be a strong verbal, written and visual communicator and will be equally comfortable communicating ideas with pictures as you are with well-crafted words.
• Fluent English, at least C1 level.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills: You must be fully confident taking on a client-facing role with the necessary skills required to work with clients, suppliers, and colleagues.
• Passion and creative thinking: We pride ourselves on the quality of our deliverables, from an email to a client presentation. Achieving this, especially when under pressure, is a critical success factor for the role.

About this role:
As a Senior Retail Industry Consultant at Endava you will have the opportunity to work with some of the biggest and most well-respected brands in the world.
You will be engaged helping Endava’s retail clients as they develop strategies to transform their businesses through the application of technology. You will also support Endava’s Private Equity Group with due diligence and value creation activities both pre and post-acquisition, using your knowledge, experience, and commercial acumen to uncover opportunities to create value for our clients.
You will work within Catalyst (Endava’s close-to-client team) to develop our retail technology capabilities and will contribute to winning new business through shaping engagements and playing a major role in the pitch process for relevant opportunities. You will be expected to contribute to the growth of the team and, over time, may be called on to manage other members in a formal management capacity (depending on previous managerial experience and desire).
