Application Maintenance Engineer - Java

Application Management


  • Develop changes 
  • Resolve Incidents and Service Requests 
  • Ensure the SLAs are meet
  • Identify & manage risk areas of a project via effective escalation and resolution as early as possible
  • Proactively optimize and ensure stability of all systems used by the projects, including hardware and software 
  • Implement and test new software initiatives as well as upgrade and maintain existing systems. This encompasses all levels of architecture 
  • Work closely with other teams to review schematic designs and provide time estimates 
  • Ensure specifications and relevant documentation are created for each new/ongoing project 
  • Provide the client with technical, editorial, and training support on all project components, both written and verbal 
  • Clarify any ambiguous requests from the client or 3rd party 
  • Coordinate and work with 3rd party applications and specifications 
  • Ensure that the On Call Team is aware and a KT is done in a timely manner in case of any complex live releases and potential issues might occur on the applications after hours 
  • Proactively involve in the Transition phase of the project and ensure that all knowledge is gathered before receiving an application into support 
  • On Call 24/7 - 1 week per month



Qualifications and Experience

  • Good Java language skills (more than 1 years' experience) 
  • Awareness of REST, Java, Spring Framework.  
  • Awareness of writing unit and integration tests.  
  • Knowledge of developing SQL. Knowledge of PL/SQL (Oracle) is optional.  
  • Familiar with AWS services and Kubernetes - is a plus  
  • Familiar with Kanban concepts - is a plus 
  • Awareness of JavaScript and one of: Angular, Node JS 


Additional Information

On Call responsibilities: 

  • To provide second /third level application support during agreed On Call hours under the SLAs 
  • To verify access monthly to all the applications 
  • Diagnostics, issue logging and resolution 
  • On duty cover for scheduled event days 
  • Know the escalation teams internal and external for each project 
  • Aware of the applications' main functionalities, known issues and SLAs 
  • To share the issues covered with the On Call team during On Call KS
