Responsibilities

  • Enable the team to be an effective self-managing unit
  • Is accountable for project/team Induction
  • Perform administrative tasks: timesheets approvals; expenses per diem approvals, annual leave
  • Promote common delivery standards and adherence to processes, signposting correct practice and correcting behaviors contrary to these, including liaising with other team leaders in other locations to ensure consistency of approach
  • Help identify and prioritize individual or team development areas by working with the Career Coach/Discipline based on the business priorities
  • Observe and raise training needs for the team, coordinating logistics where necessary
  • Management escalation point for the team
  • Team performance measurement and activity reporting
  • Team health – is concerned about the health of the relationships inside the team and is equipped with the skills to move it through maturity levels
  • Resourcing and scheduling –Team Leader will be required to cover this function for project delivery staff during any absence of the Resource Manager/WFPO
  • Manage client expectations and escalations for resources on projects. ("Client” generally means Delivery Managers)
  • Identify, understand, assess and manage any resource expectations by flagging opportunities for rotations, staff risk, demotivation and readiness to move on in order to have consistency in performance
  • Provide feedback and recommendations for salary reviews

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven track record of managing technical teams
  • Strong/fluent written and verbal communication skills in English and local language  –should be able to communicate well at various levels within a business and with stakeholders of various skills and experience
  • Excellent soft-skills particularly in client/stakeholder expectation management i.e. negotiating skills
  • People oriented – able to manage different personalities and take appropriate actions for handling potential conflicts within the teams
  • Calmness – able to deal with pressured staff working to deadlines
  • Understanding of the project process

Desirable skills:

  • Knowledge of internal processes and organisation
  • Experience of workforce planning and associated tools/methods
