Today’s requirement for high-paced software delivery means continuously improving with agile ways of working and being up-to-date with the newest trends.
Achieving rapid software delivery requires automated processes, but it is also important that we consider how we work and how we achieve DevOps ways of working. Using an effective DevOps process, as well as automation, is an essential part of modern software development practice.
At this year’s Tech Flow, we will cover topics about the evolution of DevOps and the tools and practices that are used for achieving better delivery. In addition, we will address the problems and challenges related to creating a test automated environment and how to reduce the complexity of its creation.
DEVOPS BEYOND THE TOOLS: GETTING GOOD AT GETTING BETTER
Everyone today is “doing DevOps”, but everyone means something different when they say that. At Endava, we’ve had a lot of confusion between the various tools that are useful in getting DevOps working and the actual process of working in a DevOps-like way. Therefore, we have defined the two separately and done quite a lot of thinking about what DevOps is for us and our clients. In this talk, we will explain what DevOps is for us, and the journey we are on, with our clients to get there.
ABOUT EOIN: Eoin Woods is CTO at Endava, where he leads the technical strategy for the firm, guides capability development and directs investment in emerging technologies. Eoin is a widely published author in both the research and industrial communities and a regular conference speaker.
ABOUT EDWARD: With 20 years of experience in the technology field, Edward is one of the most respected voices in DevOps, Application Management and Security. His area of expertise includes software Project Management, Business Analysis and Cloud Computing. With a particular interest in Continuous Delivery, Edward is basing his presentations on technical patterns and hands-on examples.
AUTOMATING TEST AUTOMATION
This presentation will address the problems and challenges related to creating a test automation framework. The idea is to accelerate and reduce the creation complexity of a testing framework, as a composition of custom templates and archetypes.
The test effort will be reduced by using a template pattern for implementing the common test automation flows. It follows the lean theory idea by unifying and cutting the common configuration, but still giving an option for customisation. By connecting the custom configuration with the CI pipeline, the work from Devops side will be reduced.
The purpose of this presentation is to focus and take the automation mindset to the next level.
ABOUT VIKTOR: A test automation engineer based in Skopje currently working in Endava as Test Automation Lead. Fully dedicated to automation testing for the last three years, mainly focused on framework architecture. Experienced in a variety of test automation types targeting different layers of applications. Guided by the idea that not only tests but also the whole testing process should be automated.
DEVOPS PIPELINE WITH KUBERNETES
This presentation addresses one of the CALMS: Automation - Continuous Delivery & Infrastructure as a Code and the benefits of using pipelines. What is the state of automation, and how Kubernetes contributes to simplifying the whole process?
The purpose of the presentation is to emphasise that it is easy to use pipelines and DevOps principles in everyday work.
No excuses!
ABOUT KIRO: A network engineer based in Skopje currently working in Endava as Senior DevOps Engineer. With more than ten years of experience, he has worked in a variety of roles, encompassing different networking technologies and specialises in AWS, Cloud and all things DevOps.
