Working in IT hasn’t been my childhood dream, as I always thought that the technology sector is a man’s world, a fact that changed only a couple of years ago. Being just one of the two girls in a class of 30 students at the Tech University, I felt a little out of place. Luckily I was encouraged to continue my studies, and I realized that it’s a fascinating domain. 

I also saw it as an opportunity to learn many things, plus I preferred to challenge myself over a “routine” every day of the week, and gradually I fell in love with IT.

Describe your professional path within Endava.

Six years ago I was looking for a change and discovered Endava where I got hired as a Senior Tester. The Endava journey so far has been one of constant discovery, with ups and downs.

Some of the choices that I’ve made along the way shaped me not only as a professional but also as an individual. My achievements prove that delivering consistent results leads to recognition, regardless of your gender.

I am on a constant learning curve as I found myself involved in diverse projects, small ones, with co-located teams to begin with, that further on grow into in large ones, with increased complexity and teams distributed across multiple locations. 

This exposure helped me sharpen my technical and communication skills and gain domain knowledge, which allowed me to further integrate into new projects quickly and smoothly.

Tell us about an experience that shaped you as individual.

At some point, I have been offered an opportunity to lead a Testing Team for a huge UK client project. It wasn’t easy as the team was distributed and I had people in my team from different countries with different cultures. 

However, in the end, this turned out to be one of the driving factors that made us succeed. We’ve adapted our processes and learned how to communicate effectively and deliver excellent results in a short time.

Each project has its challenges and flavor and I remember all of them.

Testing was my passion and it will always be, even if just recently I started a new project as a Business Analyst, and I realised that it’s also an exciting profession. That’s the beauty of the IT industry; you can always try something new and never get bored.

Tell us about what drives you at Endava.

Many things inspire me in my day to day activities and just to name a few: the passion that I invest in my job, the people that surround me at Endava, the autonomy and complexity within the projects, the travel opportunities and challenges that get me out of my comfort zone. 

The feeling you get when the product you’ve worked on with your team for a long time is finally live, and the customers love it is indescribable. 

Tell us more about yourself outside of work.

I love travelling. Sometimes you might feel like you are stuck in a rut in your daily routine.Travelling is the best idea when you want to test yourself and open your mind to new experiences. 

Meeting people from other places means discovering contrasting worldviews, you realize there is not only one way to live your life.

I try to choose a new destination every year and visit a new country. For a year full of work, projects, and events, travel is like a fresh dose of much-needed oxygen!

Besides travelling, I also adore sports, especially Aerobics. Sports means life and hard work yields results.

What advice would you give yourself if you were starting work at Endava today?

Be yourself and never give up! Push yourself out of the comfort zone every time as this could change your life by opening doors you never knew were there.
