Gisela is a skilled QR Engineer from Rosario who became our colleague after Velocity Partner’s merger with Endava. Working on projects with a significant impact on the health and transportation industries, led to Gisela’s chance of giving back to society by teaching children from underprivileged areas the skills of software testing. Let’s get a hint of inspiration.
How was your professional path in the company so far?
Since I was 15 years old, I knew I wanted to study Systems Engineering. I am a massive fan of researching every bit of information: "What I do not know, I always try to research!"
I've been working in Velocity Partners, now Endava, for almost 8 years. My career started with one of VP's first clients, for which I did database testing, script writing and created store procedures. Then, I continued working for another client focusing on functional testing and automation in Ruby. I've also worked for a client activating in the health industry. Now I am involved in a project for one of the biggest airlines in the US, using the mob programming technique. This was an entirely new experience for me, with developers and testers working together on the same thing, in the same space, and on the same computer. Developers write their code and testers think of different scenarios to consider.
I love my job, I enjoy my profession and all the tools I am working with. Technologies are always changing, and I am evolving along with them. Also, I do believe in technology as an inclusion method. I genuinely think that this profession allowed me to embark on a significant journey.
What motivates you in your daily work?
There are a lot of things, but what motivates me the most is the professional and personal qualities of the people I work with and their companionship. Our common aim of continuous learning nurtures the relationships we have with both our clients and colleagues from other parts of the world, getting to know not only different technologies to work with but also different cultures. It makes me proud to have become part of this company.
Tell us more about your life outside Endava.
Well, I'm a very outgoing person with a lot of things to do. I can say that I am very aware of my need to help others. That's why I am passionate about community work, and in my free time, I work in one of the most underprivileged areas of my city, looking for ways to motivate children to finish school. Together with a group of friends, I am teaching them software testing using tools that I've learned during my years of experience as a QA. I believe that this is very compatible with my daily work and brings the the perfect combination enabling me to reach both my personal and professional goals.
Also, as everybody knows here at the office, another one of my hobbies is dancing. I especially enjoy belly dancing!. I started learning it a few years ago, and today I can say that I love to dance at every opportunity!
What are your expectations for the future, now that Velocity Partners has joined forces with Endava?
I want to find new possibilities for personal and professional growth, together with all the people who are by my side day by day. I would also like to be a guide for new hires to help people find their place in the organisation. I feel that being part of a global IT company such as Endava expands our horizons and offers us the chance of getting involved in activities with a positive impact on society, generating at the same time new opportunities for improving our skills.
