Describe your professional path within the company.
My career path in Endava started about 4 years ago when I joined the Endava
Internship Programme. After a couple of months as an intern, I joined the
company as a full-time employee. Although I’ve worked on only 2 commercial
projects so far, I’ve grown a lot in that time, mainly because I was lucky
enough to be exposed to numerous challenges along the way.
At first, I joined a big team - we were about 40 people in Iasi, Romania –
working on aggregating multiple social media channels, I significantly improved
my technical skills by shadowing some people I really appreciate and respect,
and to whom I will always look up to as role models.
Later, I was able to share my knowledge with all my colleagues, take ownership
of entire system functionalities, find solutions, present them to the client
and further implement them. I also acted as a Scrum Master for a while on the
project.
The project I’m working on now is a big change and a step forward for me, as it
brought me new challenges and learning opportunities. The team started
out very small, so there was no bridge between the client and us, as we didn't
have a Project Manager, Business Analyst or a Scrum Master assigned to lead the
project and interface with the client. We were just 2 developers in Iasi,
with just the email address of the Product Owner and we had to organise a
client visit after less than a week on the project.
So, we took full responsibility for establishing a good partnership with the
client, delivering in the best way we could. We can proudly say that almost 2
years have passed since then and we are still working together. We have a great
trust-based relationship with our client. This is very important for us,
considering that we were the first nearshore company they worked with and they
initially had some understandable fears that we managed to overcome.
A while ago I also took on the role of a Line Manager for this project and
during this time I’ve learned some important lessons. Besides the payment
platform we’ve worked on, we are at the moment also involved in another huge
product which offers B2B services such as identity management, contract, and
subscription management.
To sum up, each experience I had in Endava contributed a lot to my progress and
helped me become who I am today and for that, I have many people to thank.
Tell us about what drives you at Endava.
One of the things I like the most is the fact that I can always find the right
person to ask for great advice, no matter the problem I'm facing - and I'm not
talking only about the technical people here. Being part of a fast-paced
company, I never get bored and I'm able to constantly evolve as a result of new
challenges because the projects are very different on many levels. The fact
that I have the right amount of support and challenge from my peers keeps me
motivated.
I love spending time with the people I care about. I'm a good listener and I
would say I'm able to understand the problems that people face, giving them the
best advice I can. Caring helps me a lot in fulfilling the responsibilities I
have as a Line Manager and Career Coach. Working for what I want and not taking
anything for granted contribute to bringing me joy both in my day to day job,
but also in my personal life.
How would your colleagues
describe you in one sentence?
A hardworking person who learns and
understands how things are done in the fastest and most efficient way.
Tell us more about
yourself outside of work.
"Treat others just the way you
want to be treated" - this is my motto in life and one of the most
important things to me. I love nature and traveling with my nearest and
dearest. When I'm at home, I like watching TV series and reading. I'm not a
sports lover, but I practice every now and then, to compensate for my love of
good food.
What advice would you give
yourself if you were starting work at Endava today?
Embrace each opportunity you have, no matter how scary it might seem at first because this will pay off the moment you look back with pride and reflect on your evolution.
How would you rate your experience with Endava so far?
