Adrian joined Endava 6 years ago. Since then, he made the most of every given opportunity and used it to create meaningful professional experiences and long-lasting friendships. From Testing to Applications Management, his career path was a challenge that, once accepted, opened up a new world of professional development. Describe your professional path within the company.

I started in Endava 6 years ago, as a Test Engineer. The first project I worked for was an application for a Multinational Health Organisation. It was a great first experience from which I’ve learned tremendously. From new testing methods on how to use Sitecore, I acquired handy skills that helped me out a lot further along my career path. Besides the valuable professional circumstances, I made long-lasting friendships among my colleagues. Even though with time, we all split into other projects, we still find the time and meet after-hours for drinks.

After that, I briefly worked on a few other internal projects. In 2015 I challenged myself to discover the world of an AM Engineer by working for a Banking project, and an Investment management project.

In 2016 I started working on my current project, the Endava Website. I am now part of a team of seven, all working remotely from multiple locations. My main focus is providing responsive assistance to support tasks and conducting technical analysis of incidents. I also create new website pages and try to come up with better ways for users to interact with our website. Because Endava is such a big company, we must keep an updated front with our clients and potential future colleagues.

Tell us about what drives you at Endava.

I love the people I work with; they encourage me to do the best I can and exceed expectations.

Also, I like the fact that Endava organises discipline weeks, giving me the possibility to learn more about the current field I'm working in and others. I find it relevant that almost every discipline in Endava allocates one week to celebrate achievements, learn from past mistakes and holds Pass-it-On sessions for knowledge sharing among colleagues.

How would your colleagues describe you in one sentence?

My colleagues have described me as adaptable, responsible, pro-active and helpful. Because I love what I do, I'm always keen on finding the best solutions for problems that come to my attention. I'm always in search of new improvement solutions to make my job and others easier.

What was not said but I'm sure that everybody thinks is that I'm very meticulous about my work. I like structure and clarity in everything I do.

Name some learning means that guide your career path.

To continually improve my professional skills, I prefer watching video tutorials and attending presentations. I attend presentations starting with internal Pass it On's, Connect IT meetups and Tech Flow events. I also attended a few Ted Talks in the past.

Along the years, one quote guided my professional experience, and I stand by it today as well:

Tell us more about yourself outside of work.

Outside of work, I'm a gamer at heart, an aspiring cook, a Star Wars Lego collector and an anime aficionado. I've been gaming on PC since childhood. Since joining Endava, I've built a beast of a PC to game on. I like challenging games like Dark Souls, but I play anything new that releases.

I love to cook to de-stress, and my favourite pass-time is baking cakes and sweets. I've been baking for a few years now, and from what feedback I've received, it's pretty good.

I've been building LEGOs almost my entire life. Of course, with age, the complexity of each construction increased. I'm always on a lookout for the next best thing to add to my collection. My most valuable LEGO possession is the UCS Millennium Falcon, Han Solo's Spaceship that was used to help the Resistance in the Star Wars movies. It took more than 24 hours to build, but the result was worth the effort.

I'm also one of the leaders of the Anime Culture Club, a club for watching, presenting and discussing Japanese culture and Animation.

What advice would you give yourself if you were starting work at Endava today?

If I were to start again, I would tell myself "Seize every opportunity". Endava gives you multiple occasions to expand your professional and social skills, enabling you to work with people from diverse and vibrant cultures. Also, you can attend various technical and fun events that create the perfect environment to learn and spend quality time bonding with your team.
