Roxana

Manager. Mother. Challenge-seeker

Starting as a Senior Developer seven years ago, Roxana is now Delivery Manager, working with European clients. Along the way, she experienced how responsibility can be a major contributor to the personal as well as the professional growth and realised how opportunities arise as soon as you accept that change is the only constant in life. We asked Roxana five questions. Let us find out what her answers are.

How did you start out at Endava?

Almost 7 years ago, the universe convinced me it is time for a change, both in my life and in my career. Therefore, I decided to listen and joined Endava as a Senior Developer. Little did I know how wise the universe was, as I was embarking on the journey of my life. I joined an insurance project and flew on our client’s site 2 days later. I wrote code, created databases, broke builds, added and resolved bugs (and then added some more), as every developer in the team. I had the chance to learn from the best technical people and be challenged and supported every day along the way.

Tell us more about your career path within the company.

As soon as the opportunity came, I took it and became Head of Project Management, for the next 5 years - what an amazing ride. Then another opportunity presented itself and I took that one too, becoming the Delivery Unit Manager for Endava’s office in Iasi. During the past 2 years, I had the pleasure and honour to work closely with an amazing team and lead our office in Iasi. Now, the roller coaster offered another one – joining the Delivery Managers team, to work close with client teams and deliver exciting products and services to our clients. I am sure there will be many other challenges in the future.

What are the most important lessons you could share after 7 years of working in Endava?

I think that each member of my team has had an influence on me and my way of working (and being). I learned how to lead, how to listen, how to create a strategy and a plan for the most senior people in the office. I also learned that you need to be humble and people will follow. I was lucky to lead projects, get involved in pre-sales visits and work closely on winning business. I realised that responsibility can grow you even more; that every person is important and has a big impact on the project, the team, the group, the discipline, the company.

Would you like to share a challenge you encountered along your professional path?

I realised that speaking publicly is not the same as public speaking. Although it required a lot of patience and exercise, I now can say that I can handle them both.

Leaving work aside, what could you tell us about yourself?

7 years in Endava and two children showed me that I must keep on learning, changing, accepting challenges and trying to be the best that I can be. My personal mantra is that change is the only constant and you have to be prepared and embrace it!
