Describe your professional path within the company.

I started working in Endava 6 years ago, and I’m still managing the team I joined back then. We had our share of difficult times, but we always managed to survive. Some great guys in the team recognised me as a person who can be trusted and together, we restored our strength.
Endava helped me the most by allowing me to follow my vision, almost without interference. It was a learning process for my team and me. Somebody passed on how to do C++ or Python. Someone else thought me how to extend our test automation framework. And they all helped me to become a better person and a better manager.

Tell us about what drives you at Endava.

I like to work for such a big, international company because through Endava, I had the opportunity to work for one of the biggest networking solutions companies in the world.

Despite being a Delivery Manager here, I still have a chance to code a little bit and the tool that I created over the past few years exclusively for this client is now used not just by my product team, but by many other teams all over the world.

It's not a small thing when you get a "Certificate of Excellence" from a client for an effort like that. And I have three more guys in the team with the same award — a decent number for a relatively small group of people.

How would your colleagues describe you in one sentence?

They call me "Doctor". They don't need a sentence, just a single word :)

Name some books/tutorials/speeches that had an effect on your career path.

I like history books, especially from the days of the Roman empire. Robert Graves wrote the one I consider to be the best: "I, Claudius". Claudius was physically challenged but still managed to become a great scholar. He inherited the throne and got his purple robe by chance but still managed to be a great emperor. The lesson is: when the opportunity comes, be prepared to grab it and don't overthink. That book helped me trade my pretty decent University career for a job in the IT industry. The most important thing? I have no regrets. I only hope that I will avoid mistakes that Claudius made in his old age :)

What advice would you give yourself if you were starting work at Endava today?

I would repeat John Lennon’s words: "Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end".

Tell us more about yourself outside of work.

I graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade with an average point grade of 9.85 out of 10. Took my PhD and spent ten years there teaching students on various subjects, from theoretical mechanics to programming and robotics. Then I turned to IT, spent 13 years in as a General Manager of one of the most significant internet service providers in Serbia. I was a journalist for a prominent news magazine where I published more than 150 articles, mostly about space exploration and technology in general.

I am also a passionate movie collector with one of the biggest movie collections in this part of the world (more than 16.000 titles). Currently, I'm trying to improve my photography skills. And above all, I am a proud father and a husband.

Last but not least, tell us how your passions have contributed to your day to day job.

Reading great books, writing news articles, watching good movies; all that builds your personality and prepares you to face the challenges that work, and people put in front of you every day. People also dislike dull persons; it's hard to work with a guy who is limited to his or her technical skills, unable to talk about anything else. My passions help me to be a smarter person.
